Open House: Introducing Charley Adams

Apr 04, 2018

Written By versatile

Guitar has been Charley Adams’ passion since he began playing at age 11.

Initially drawn to rock, Adams now considers himself fortunate for his parents’ insistence on classical guitar lessons. Despite sporadic practice habits as a teenager, seven years of formal study laid a technical foundation for subsequent forays. These include blues, jazz, bluegrass, and a wide variety of both roots and progressive music.

Adams is a regular band member and frequent collaborator with more than a dozen groups since moving to Portland in 2003. His style reveals traces of many influences, including Leo Kottke, David Grisman, Charlie Hunter, and the ever-eclectic Bill Frisell. Equally competent on the guitar, ukulele, or banjo, Adams thrives whether delivering an engaging performance on stage or providing ambience in the background. His playing reflects his upbeat personality and characteristic smile, as anyone who’s heard him would agree.

We’re excited to have Charley play at our upcoming Open House on Thursday, April 19th. We hope you’ll come enjoy this music with us!
